As we start the new season at Broken Tee Golf Complex, we will slowly settle into some of our routine maintenance practices. One of our goals this season is to make topdressing the greens part of routine maintenance. To work towards this, light, but frequent sand applications will occur every other week. Topdressing helps create a firmer and smoother surface, which is vital to consistent green speeds. By incorporating sand into the soil profile, it creates better water infiltration, decreased compaction, and helps dilute organic matter, giving the turf a better growing medium in which to flourish. Topdressing applications will rotate through the days of the week as to not impact the same groups or days every other week.
